united visual artists visited ucla today and talked about their latest work. i particularly liked hereafter (check out the video of the installation in belsay castle [which was used as a hideout during wwii]), but all their other work is pretty awesome too. they've done visuals for a number of bands (like massive attack and U2) and often work with sound.

this makes sense to me- a case for creating a national system of public service. It aired in sept of 2007, and really seems possible now with Barack soon to be in office. I am hoping people my age can be a new generation of practical hippies that can actually get things done within the system, rather than sitting around and smoking up, imagining a better world that doesn't exist.

just saw steve lambert (the artist/prankster behind THIS) give a talk with EYEBEAM (NYC based) at UCLA Design Media Arts.
